Our Story
Our story of The Retreat McCall is rooted in family, creativity, and a deep appreciation for serene spaces. What began as a spark of possibility on a stretch of forested mountain land has grown into a gathering place where people come to connect, celebrate, rest, and dream. This is a place built with intention, shaped by real life, and shared with joy.
I began my career as a singer-songwriter and recording artist, carrying a deep love for creativity and meaningful connection. I actually met my wife in Nashville after moving there to further explore the music industry, and I have several albums available on streaming services. As my family grew, I shifted into entrepreneurship and founded a business software company. Eventually, I was drawn to McCall by its beauty and simplicity.
When I first walked the land that would become The Retreat McCall, I could picture people gathering in a place that felt grounded, peaceful, and inspiring. Soon after, I sold my software company and decided to merge my artistic spirit and entrepreneurial experience into one calling.
As we designed the first building, I provided our architect with one of my songs, “Long Winding Road.” I challenged him thus: “If you were to imagine a building that looks like this song feels, what would it look like?” As we’ve designed everything from the windows to the parking lot to the placement of all the rocks, we’ve tried to amplify that message.
I invited my family to join with me in bringing The Retreat McCall into existence. They said yes! As we worked to get it built, we dealt with “life”, including babies joining the family, medical challenges, eye and brain cancer, and all the stuff in between.
Our hope is to create a place where people can enjoy events that strengthen whatever it is they’ve created. It might be a bride and groom creating a unique experience for their loved ones. It could be a business gathering to a place that allows them to hear themselves think and channel their vision. It may be a yoga group wanting to meditate from a place of great serenity.
We have known both difficulty and grace. We know how important it is to have places where people can come together and feel supported. We are honored to share our space with you!
